Final Report [Background - Software (Artificial Intelligence with Image Processing)]

Artificial intelligence(AI) image processing processes and improves the quality of the image based on the algorithm’s depth of knowledge (Rossum, n.d.).  Traditional image processing technologies focus mainly on image acquisition, transformation, compression coding and enhancement. As technology advances, image recognition, image registration and content-based image retrieval have made great progress by reflecting and expanding human intelligence activities on the computer (Zhang & Wang, 2019).

In today’s world, companies and organisations all around use AI image processing for a variety of applications which includes “character recognition, data extraction, pattern recognition, visualisation, identification, and classification” (Rossum, n.d.), which can be seen in Figure 9. One of the few main purposes of image processing is pattern recognition, which “distinguishes and classifies objects in an image, identifies their positions, and understands the scene” (Apriorit, 2019).
